Personal Care

Personal Care Services

Our in-home care services are designed to help prolong an aging person’s ability to Live Well at Home and remain in their homes safely. By combining personal care services with conversation, interaction and socialization our caregivers strive to create a meaningful relationship that engages and enriches the lives of their clients physically, mentally and emotionally.

Bathing, Personal Hygiene

Designed for seniors that have physical or cognitive impairments and need assistance with showering, or toileting. Helps to eliminate the fear of falling in the shower, and provides support for those that find it difficult to get to the bathroom, or manage in the bathroom.

Toileting

Maintaining a consistent routine of personal care and good hygiene – including incontinence care – is key to maintaining a healthy image and a positive outlook on life. Each of our staff is trained to be patient and to put their clients at ease, even when receiving help with the more personal support services like showering and toileting.

Dressing & Grooming

As one ages, it can be difficult to manage even simple daily activities like dressing, combing hair and other personal care routines. Hillcrest caregivers build personal relationships with their clients. Helping to not only dress clients, but also to help select the right clothes. Because we strive to understand each client’s preferences, we may even help select the accessories the client prefers.

Assistance with Medication

Taking the proper medications consistently – especially for the elderly – is often a major factor in avoiding unnecessary health crisis or hospitalization. Our trained staff will help clients with their medications to encourage that clients take their medications as prescribed every day.

Feeding & Special Diets

Eating well is an important part of living well. So whether simply preparing healthy meals or maintaining special diets, our caregivers help clients avoid the problems that can result from poor eating habits, and help with feeding when clients have difficulties feeding themselves.

Transferring & Positioning

Another care service involves transferring and positioning. Safely transferring clients in and out of beds, into chairs or wheelchairs can be an important part of daily caregiving. It helps clients to improve muscle strength and benefits the overall functioning of the body that results from more regular and normal movement and activities.

Helping Clients to Remain Active

Daily activity is important to good health. So whether it’s assistance getting from place to place within their own home, or going out to visit friends, family, doctor visits or attending special events, Hillcrest caregivers help clients to stay physically active. This can involve a wide range of services, from planning activities, to accompanying clients on visits to friends, family or doctor appointment. Gently encouraging activity and then assisting with transportation* provides important socialization that helps clients feel involved and maintain a positive outlook.
